Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis

Course Objective

This short course is designed for clients that require the skills and knowledge in dealing with and managing an allergic/anaphylactic reaction within their workplace. This Course in First Aid Managent of Anaphylaxis meets the needs of staff working in Children's Services who are required to have undertaken accredited anaphylaxis management training under the Children's Services and Education Legislation Amendment (Anaphylaxis Management) Act 2008.

Course Content

  • Signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction / anaphylaxis
  • Common allergens
  • Manage an allergic reaction / anaphylaxis
  • Use of an EPIPEN
  • Anaphylaxis Action Plans
  • Responsibilities of parents/carers/employees and employers in accordance with Anaphylaxis policy and legislation
  • Risk assessment strategies

Selection criteria

Participants must have basic English-speaking skills and must be 14 years or older.

Pre entry requirements



All assessment will be based on the principles of competency-based training and assessment. Competency will be determined by a range of methods, including observation of simulated and practical activities, written assignment, structured questioning and discussion and completion of true/False quiz

Mutual Recognition

Emergency First Aid recognizes AQF qualifications and Statement of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)


Further Study Links

This unit of competency will provide underpinning knowledge and skills for advancing into further relevant first aid units.

The principles of Access & equity will be applied in the selection of students and in the delivery of the training and assessment services.

Fees and Charges

All courses are charged as a fee for service and must be paid in full prior to attending training session.

Refund Policy

Emergency First Aid will refund course fees if, at least 10 days before scheduled course commencement date, a written refund request is received.
Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receiving written request.
Refunds will not be issued if:

  • Refund request has not been received within set time
  • If participant commences the course
  • After course transfers

In order to obtain 22099VIC - Course in First Aid Management of Anaphylaxis certificate the participant must complete all components of course and be assessed as competent.
