Course in the Emergency Management of Asthma in the Workplace

Course Objective

This short course is designed to develop the skills and knowledge of those responsible for the care of others who may suffer from Asthma and therefore need to be aware of sound asthma management procedures to assist a casualty suffering an asthma attack in their workplace or care.

Selection criteria

Participants must have basic English-speaking skills and must be 14 years or older.

Pre entry requirements



All assessment will be based on the principles of competency-based training and assessment. Competency will be determined by a range of methods, including observation of simulated and practical activities, structured questioning and discussion

Mutual Recognition

Emergency First Aid recognizes AQF qualifications and Statement of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)


Further Study Links

This unit of competency will provide underpinning knowledge and skills for advancing into further relevant first aid units.

Access and Equity

The principles of Access & equity will be applied in the selection of students and in the delivery of the training and assessment services.

Course Delivery Options

Fees and Charges

All courses are charged as a fee for service and must be paid in full prior to attending training session.

Refund Policy

Emergency First Aid will refund course fees if, at least 10 days before scheduled course commencement date, a written refund request is received.
Refunds will be issued within 14 days of receiving written request.
Refunds will not be issued if:

  • Refund request has not been received within set time
  • If participant commences the course
  • After course transfers

  • What is Asthma
  • Emergency Asthma management
  • Bronchodilator Accreditation number (BAN) system
  • First aid kits and blue reliever medications
  • Sample Asthma policy for an organization
  • Specific information relating to each target module

In order to obtain 21686VIC - Course in the Emergency Management of Asthma in the Workplace certificate the participant must complete all components of course and be assessed as competent.
