FAST 15Launched at Safety in Action Tradeshow

FAST 15 is Emergency First Aid's NEW training program that takes the student out of the classroom and into the first aid experience.

Actors are "made up" by a Special FX make up Professional, and act out a series of scenarios for the participant to practice their skills.

Participants complete a workbook or online quiz prior to attending a 1 day workshop in which they have 15 minutes to assess, provide care and then handover a patient to a paramedic.

The Victorian Government benchmark of 15 minutes for an Ambulance to arrive 90% of the time sets the scene for these situations.

The scenarios are made as lifelike as possible with participants having to run through a whole incident. Everything from calling a mock 000 line to handing over to medical help and everything in between. Participants are then debriefed after the exercise and the group set up for the next scene.

EFA decided to extend the practice of scenario based medical exercises that are used in world-wide emergency planning to implement an exciting change to normal first aid classes and use this to benefit the wider community
